BABA AND JANAMASHTAMI

Today is Shree Krishna Janamashtami , 8th day of the Hindu month of Bhado, when Lord Krishna was born. We used to celebrate this day as one of the four birthdays of Baba as His first name itself was Krishna; Shree Krishna Deo Tiwary. He chose to leave us this day in 2013 and proceed to His heavenly abode.

According to english calendar, Janamashtami in 2013 was on 28th August but we observe Baba’s journey to Heaven according to Hindu calendar. We used to celebrate Janamashtami with great fervor, but in 2013 this day became the day of mourning, misery and great sadness. The whole family was shell shocked.

Baba was a man of great courage and unflinching principles. He gave us courage as an inborn, inherited quality. He was never cowed down by adverse circumstances nor by any powerful entity. Seeing this in our father, we also learnt not to bow to any one; how so ever powerful he might be. We learnt to face all circumstances and adversity with courage and the spirit of not giving up. Of course this courage of Baba was backed by #moral purity and #strength that taught us also to refrain from anything immoral.

It can be imagined easily that for a practicing lawyer, it would be a greatly difficult task to refuse taking up a court case. Yet Baba always refused to take any case involving family disputes including cases of divorce, even when fat fees were offered. He always said that it was an unacceptable task to break families with disputes of property etc. He always advised the prospective clients to resolve their disputes through mutual discussion and avoid going to Court of Law, declining to take up any such case.

Same was the situation with divorce cases. For him it was not moral to separate any husband and wife and that the matter must be resolved between the two. He was the only Advocate who did no divorce cases in his life. Only in one case involving our neighbor’s daughter, he prepared the petition as he considered the girl like his daughter who could not put up with her husband due to extreme circumstances.

There are several instances of Baba’s day to day life which have inspired the spirit of truthfulness, kindness, morality, humane principles, honesty, the will to struggle and progress, the selfless service to the needy and the poor and generosity to the friends. Not only his own children but also all others who came into contact with him, have been inspired with these values. He distributed books to the children from poor families, food to the hungry and clothes to the destitute and always sympathized with and helped the under privileged. All this, when He was Himself not super rich but was working hard for a respectable life.

His values are being passed on to the next generation. We have ourselves imbibed Baba’s values and lived up to them. We are blessed to have Him as our Father. He was God to us who is blessing us always and saving us from all difficulties. We love you Dad !
