According to Hindu calendar the onset of monsoons ( rainy season ) begins in the month of Shravana ( towards the end of June ). The month of Shravana belongs to Lord Shiva, who is worshipped throughout the month, with people avoiding bad habits like alcohol and non veg food. Girls keep fast on Mondays to please Lord Shiva to get a good husband.
After Shravana the month of Bhado ( Bhadra Pada ) starts. The full moon of Shravana is also celebrated as Raksha Bandhan ; when a sister ties a band to her brother in lieu of a promise that the brother will come to the rescue of his sister, should such a situation arise. The month of Bhado follows with the Birthday of Lord Shri Krishna. Lord Krishna, the Creator, who also nurtures his creations and the destroyer; the one and the only God who is running this beautiful universe. In the next fortnight on 4th Day Lord Ganesha’s birthday is celebrated who visits earth for ten days and leaves earth after ten days. Immediately after that the Pitripaksha ( the fortnight of forefathers ) starts.
Pitripaksha is the fortnight when one remembers and feeds his father and all forefathers. We worship Daddy especially during this fortnight along with all other forefathers and near and dear ones who have left this earth for their heavenly abode. Even though the whole family revers BABA all through, the Pitripaksha is the annual ritual when we offer special prayers and offer sweets and water to Daddy and all other forefathers to obtain their blessings.
When I offer water to Daddy, He looks at me from the vast skies; I can see and feel His presence blessing all of the family. Such a divine experience !!!
